Freelite's design goal is aesthetical integrity at a price that makes the project a good bargain. Practical considerations place limits on design alternatives. Whenever possible we try to open up an area (raise part of the ceiling) in conjunction with the skylight. Open and bright just go together. Of course there are always exceptions and each situation poses its own set of challenges. We invite you to contact us for our analysis of your situation. Function
Before installations Freelite first asks our customers the following:
- How much light?- What kind?
- Where?
- What intensity?
Sunlight intensity varies during the day and throughout the year. Light transmission varies according to the translucency of the glazing material and the number of layers. Where the light is needed inside must be balanced by where it is not directed it in. A good skylight design maximizes light distribution while minimizing exposure to the other elements. Natural light feels good and a skylight's function is to transmit that good feeling.
